The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) promotes transparency in natural resource governance by encouraging mining companies and governments to publish information relating to the mining and oil sectors.
Countries adhere to the EITI standards to ensure full disclosure of information related to tax and other payments made by mining and oil companies to governments. Since 2012, these companies have also been required to publish a broader range of information on these economic sectors, including production data, contract disclosure policies, company ownership, and company social spending. Congo became an EITI candidate country in 2007 and achieved compliance status in 2014.
This section brings together a set of documents published in the context of Congo’s membership of the EITI as well as analytical contributions from civil society to the membership process.
